Radio Controlled Helicopter

Experiments with rotary winged aircraft can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci, successful flights were not achieved until the 1930s, and it was not until 1941 that the first practical, full size helicopter was built by lgor Sikorsky. Model enthusiasts are remarkably quick to imitate full-size versions, but were not as successful with rotary wing aircrafts, and it was not until 1968 that the first fully controllable Radio Controlled model helicopter was made, built by Dr. Dieter Schluter of West Germany.

It is hard to decide if the electric radio control helicopter falls on the "mini" category. But you can say that it is "mini" if you can fly it in your living room without damaging your furniture. They are far more affordable than electric and petrol radio controlled helicopters.

Micro radio controlled helicopter: If you have seen micro radio controlled cars ( like the Team Losi 1/36 scale ), micro radio controlled boats, and micro radio controlled planes, then you would not be surprised to see micro radio control helicopters such as the Picco Z by Silverlit at around £22 including all batteries you need to get flying. These tiny aircraft can be up to 8 inches in length and they have features similar to a standard radio controlled helicopter.

Electric radio controlled helicopter: Early electric radio controlled helicopters were expensive but nowadays they are more affordable. The electric remote control helicopter is suitable for beginners. They are easy to fly and powered by a rechargeable battery. Petrol radio control helicopter: Flying this type of helicopter is more or less close to flying a real helicopter. Petrol remote control helicopters are expensive, with engines and more complicated moving parts. Petrol remote control helicopters are for advanced radio controlled pilots.
